MONTREAL – A series of police raids launched at 6 a.m. Thursday in the Montreal region is “related to drug dealing and also related to Italian organized crime,” Constable Anie Lemieux of Montreal police said.
“Many arrests have been made,” she added, without providing figures.
Raids have been carried out, using search warrants, in Montreal, Laval and Valleyfield, Lemieux added.
The operation is being headed by the anti-gang squad of the Montreal police organized-crime division, she said, “in co-operation with the RCMP, Laval police, municipal police and the Sûreté du Québec.”
